ELEGANT HAMMOCK

YOGI COMFORT

ABOUT THE OBJECT
The `Elegant Hammock´ offers a comfortable sitting experience in a unique piece of furniture. Philosophically the dynamic curved wood symbolises the flow of life and the woven threads its fate. This makes you feel secure so you can fall into it and let go, find the place of inner peace and reconnect to yourself.

Collaboration
I had great pleasure working together with my father, who is a professional carpenter. With his bright knowledge and broad choice of equipment he was a major help in building the framework of the chair.

Construction
The flowing shape of the frame, as well as the hanging macrame is inspired by `Movement´ and its aesthetic by `Silence´. `Consciousness´ relates to the choice of the materials.
For the wooden frame we worked in the atelier with diverse materials and machines to create this unique shape. It consists of 2 identical site pieces and 2 identical round bars. The single elements are connected by a glued key system (no screws).
For the woven fabric I learned 2 basic macrame techniques and used them symmetrically. The ending pieces are loosened up and cut on the same height.
To connect the textile to the frame I revolved the thread during the weaving process around the wood. Together emerges a strong and sayable, elegant and comfortable chair.
`Elegant Hammock´ is constructed on the scale 1:3.

Effect
Optically the object is light, dynamic, clear - aesthetic. It is a pleasant chair to have in the living room.
The comfortable experience comes from the strong frame and hanging sitting surface. This relaxing effect makes you forget time and space and you basically don't wanna get up again.
